Hello everybody and welcome to another edition of Tuesday Tech Talk. Let's see what is happening this week.
BlackBerry's Bad Week
Last week was not a good week for BlackBerry maker Research in Motion, disappointing sales and lowering its outlook for the year, the comp... as well, fierce competition from the iOS and Android both in the enterprise and consumer sector are to blame along with just a bad economy. This comes on the heels that the iOS 5 will have its own messaging service as well as speculation that Google is working on a similar service for Android, both which would compete with BlackBerry Messenger.
Microsoft warns Customers of Phone Scam
Microsoft is warning its customers about phone scammers calling them and telling them they are at risk with their computers and push for customers to buy their "security program". What is really alarming is how many people fall for the scam. Then again, these are Windows customers we are talking about here. Sorry I just couldn't resist.
Microsoft, Google, and Twitter debate HTML5
At a recent conference designers from Microsoft, Google, and Twitter had an interesting debate about HTML5. If you find it interesting like I did than you can read all about it here. I love HTML5 and say bring more of it on!
Pandora went public last week and after its first week, is now wort... in market value and that is after losing 16 percent in value in the first week. I love the service and say that is a good number.
Skype Executives Leave Company After Microsoft Purchase
Skype has announced that 8 of its executives have left the company after being acquired by Microsoft for $8.5 Billion. This is kind of normal in any merger or buyout as you eliminate redundant positions in a merger. But I still hate the deal and hope another company can do what Skype does before Microsoft does to Skype what Comcast did to TechTV several years back.
Well, that is going to do it for this week's Tuesday Tech Talk. See you next week for more tech news and stop by later in the week for AppleTalk Thursday and Googling Friday. See ya'!
