Recent Experience With BlueHost - Not Ready To Drop Endorsement - YET

As many of you know, I've been a huge fan of BlueHost.  I still am... For Now.


Over the past seven days, I've noticed a consistent pattern of OUTAGES on my hosting account.  Each time I contacted support, my site was up and running within 15 to 20 minutes.  However, this is NOT GOOD AT ALL when your business depends on your site being online.


No, it's not the amount of traffic to our site. It is certainly a failing piece of hardware on the BlueHost server that I'm on.  Here I am on a Thursday morning, and while I should be doing final prep for our shows, I'm answer emails about Plus Member Feeds that are not working and trying to get support to get my site back online.


It may be time to byte the bullet and go to a more robust system.  Shared hosting would be find for a standard blog or podcast.  However, I'm becoming more and more convinced that this is not working out for me when I need my digitla products and my network's podcast content online 24/7.


Here's the note that I just sent to BlueHost:

My site is down again. This is the 7th day in a row that this has happened. I have experienced AT LEAST 20 minutes PER DAY of down time each day for the past several days. And that's just the times that I've actually noticed myself, by trying to go to the site.

Once again I'm about to go live with an entire day of live podcasting on my site. I really hope you guys can get me up ASAP and that, AFTER TODAY, you will consider moving me to another server.

Here's the thing, If we can not get this resolved, I'll no longer be able to, in good conscience, refer people to BlueHost, and I will be forced to leave for another hosting provider.




While they work on getting my server back online, I need to get back to show notes prep.


Just know this.. If your plus member feeds are not working right now, it has nothing to do with the changes to Plus Membership. Please stay subscribed to those feeds for now. :)

Everything seems to be back up and running normally.  I'll see how things go over the next seven days.  Perhaps this was a fluke and there wont be any other issues for the next two years.  We'll see.

That is a tough one Cliff, I have seen the same thing with Media Temple...before I signed up we looked at my normal usage with Harvest they put me in a certain plan then hammered me for three months on overages....and the site had intermittent issues with being on. At least 5-6 times the site was not available..and with paying members emailing in saying they cannot get on your site it really is a bad of luck with this...I would hate to see you have to leave..that would be too much work...I just left Media Temple and now have my site powered my MUCH BETTER
