Hello everyone and welcome to another installment of Googling Friday...TGIF! Got a bit of news from Google this week so let's see what is going on.
Android Chief: We are Still Open!
You may recall last week how I had said that Google was withholding the Honeycomb Android 3.0 from phone makers. Well now Andy Rubin is saying that the OS is indeed still open, it's just they are working on getting Honeycomb prepared for mobile phones before releasing the code to phone makers.
CEO Larry Page Shaking Things up Already
New Google CEO and co-founder Larry Page is already putting his stamp on the company by having a shakeup of his management team. Page is putting key executives in charge of their individual product groups and will report directly to him. The changes should streamline operations at Google. In addition, Page is also focusing in on social networking and is even tying in bonuses based on how well the company does in this area which it has struggled with compared to companies like Facebook and Twitter.
Messages for Japan
Google has launched a site where people from around the world can write their own and read messages from around the world, encouraging the people of Japan in the wake of the recent devastating earthquake and tsunami there. Check out the video.
Google Brings Pagination to Google Docs
Google Docs now has a pretty cool feature when working with multiple page documents that ..., the ability to see visual pages on your screen within your browser. Looks pretty snappy and professional if you ask me.
Google Announces Q1 Earnings
Google announced an $8.58 billion gross revenue with a net income o.... Just short of analysts were expecting but a 27% increase over last year Q1 earnings. Wouldn't mind having just a tiny slice of that...great job Google!
