The really life changing thing that has happened is that my former employer and I have parted ways. It's scary especially in this market but I believe that it's for the best on several levels. The big thing that I figured out during this whole process is that I would be much happier working for myself and so I've decided to do that and I'm hanging out my own shingle.
Now, how did I come to the decision that I wanted to work for myself? To be honest, I had been thinking of doing this for a while but I wasn't able to do it for different reasons. However when I started reading this book by Tony Lawrence things really started to gel. I've realized that I'm a lot happier getting out there and making sales for myself and not have to deal with the bureaucracy that any company has.
Is this going to be easy? Of course it won't be easy. However I have the destiny in my hands and that is something that I'm excited about.

Thanks for the support. You're right, it is not easy (and sometimes it can be downright scary) but this is something that I have wanted to do for a while and now seems to be a good a time as any. FWIW the business that I've decided to go into is IT support and service for small and medium business. I'm really excited about the prospects for this.
Comment by Cliff Ravenscraft @GSPN on August 3, 2011 at 3:20pm Aaron, I am sorry it has taken me this long to respond to this. It's been on my list of things to do for over a week. Congrats on stepping out on faith. It's not easy, but if you are following your passion and doing what you feel called to do, I believe it gives you the greatest chance for success.
I believe you've been following my journey from the earlier days. That first year of working for myself was VERY DIFFICULT financially. However, all that hard work has paid off and some really amazing things are happening today as a result.
I pray for many blessings for your in your new pursuits!
