Permalink Reply by Jan Martinec on July 28, 2012 at 9:21am My favourites sports are rowing and cycling today :)
Watching rowing is reminisce for me. It was my sport for 8 years when I was younger. (20th century :)
I love the off main stream games like I watched mens team archery the other day and it was great. US with a silver and oh so close to gold. The coverage is frustrating however because at one point I turned to MSNBC and they were doing a Lockup marathon!? Seriously, news or olympic coverage, even if taped or a replay is all I ever want to see out of NBC networks this week. The online stram is very cool though.
Permalink Reply by Geoff Gentry (aka xforce11) on July 30, 2012 at 8:14pm I agree, I always find interesting sports to follow. Really got into curling during the last Winter Olympics. I have been using the apps. But have been disappointed in NBC editing out the opening ceremony cutting a 7/7 tribute for a fluff piece. If another country cut out our 9/11 tribute they would be called insensitive. The U.S. got a bad name in the world. The commentary on the the ceremony was insensitive and bad. Plus the need a better social media strategy. But love watching the games.
I enjoy gymnastics, volleyball (both), Swimming, diving, and watching sports I wouldn't normally watch in general.
The coverage has NOT been good, very typical, but very behind the times. I have heard that ABC is making a bit play for the next Olympics.
I also decided that for my 40th Birthday in 4 years, that I will go to the Rio games! For my 30th Birthday I did a month in Scandinavia and Russia, for surviving my dental torture (which I can see the light at the end of the tunnel) I'll go to Australia late next year for 3-4 weeks and when I retire in 7 years I'm going on a trip around the world. I had to come up with something good for my 40th birthday and it hit me last night - Rio 2016! And with 4 years to plan I can totally set up a good trip!.
Permalink Reply by Shannon Kay on August 2, 2012 at 2:06pm I think sports are boring, pointless, and stupid.
But I love watching the Olympics! You get to see all the events that aren't normally on tv like gymnastics, archery, synchronized diving! So to those of you who don't like sports, try some olympics watching anyway. I actually think the winter olympics are more fun to watch with more crazy events.
for a minute I was like, WHAT, why are they posting here. But you are totally right!
