Finished the Trilogy (Loved it)

Had very little sleep last night. I made the mistake of starting the third book and I literally couldn't put it down, didn't get to sleep until after 2 am. The last book is a roller coaster ride of emotions, and at the end it leads you breathless. I post a short review of the third book on Goodreads, no spoilers just my thoughts.

Oh Mockingjay... I initally read The Hunger Games and Catching Fire last spring and then Mockingjay as soon as my library got it in for me after it's release (it took only a few weeks). I have no problem saying the first time around I was disappointed in Mockingjay. I thought the very end of it was good, but such a long, SAD, SAD, SAD, ordeal to get there.

Re-reading it however, and doing back to back to back gave me a new perspective on it. It is still my least favorite of the series BUT I'm now ok with it. It was a fitting end to an awesome series. :)

Maybe I read too fast, but I was greatly disappointed with the final 2-3 chapters. It almost seemed like the author was trying to cram in an ending when she could have written a whole other book. Also I kept hoping for something good to grab on to and it never happened. I'll re-read, but I definitely did not like this book.

i disagree, i feel that it was writen that way to make it fell as if everthing is rushed and i think that it adds to the suspention

I enjoyed the end of the story. I must admit that I enjoyed all three books equally. It took me forever to read Mockingjay, but that's only because we were podcasting about the books and getting mine and Stephanie's schedule to math up seemed impossible there for a while.

I'm just glad she ended up with Peeta and Gale was pretty much out of the picture.

Just finished the series. After reading the last sentence of Catching Fire it only took about 2 hours for me to start Mockingjay. Mockingjay was my least favorite book. Very dark. I actually had to read the book very fast because I was having weird dreams at night, not nightmares, but I would wake up early and be thinking about Katniss, Peeta and Gale. I thought the last few chapters were fitting, a coast to the end of the story, giving a happy ending.

After I read the first book, I read the other two in the order my library made them available to me -- I couldn't bear the idea of waiting for Catching Fire once I had Mockingjay in hand!!!

I agree Mockingjay was not fun to read, but I did like the ending - and ultimately I liked it better than Catching Fire.

I think my problem with Catching Fire is that the games seemed too "easy". For one thing, Katniss and her allies almost never ran into their opponents. And for another, once they figured out what was going on, the tributes could seemingly avoid all danger and hardship by moving around the clock. And some of the zones (like the rain of blood and the screams of loved ones) were horrible but not life-threatening.... Couldn't they guard against those particular horrors, once they learned about them, by weaving umbrellas and plugging up their ears?

But maybe I liked Catching Fire least just because I read it last. :)

Lee, I agree, the 2nd set of games did seem to be too "convenient" for them. But then again, wasn't Plutarch running things? Wasn't he on "their side?" I could be remembering wrong. But if I'm right, this might explain that.

I just finsihed the 3rd book today and started reading the first book 2 weeks ago and had so much trouble putting the kindle down and just wanted to keep reading. Loved it!

I devoured this trilogy in one week and loved every minute of it! I'm very happy with the way the series ended; however, I have to say, I wish the epilogue of the final book would have been longer. I feel like the author took a long time to get where she did at the end of the final book and then wrapped it up too quickly.

I just finished Mockingjay a few days ago. I honestly felt as if I fell down the rabbit hole and I had no way to crawl out. I found myself crying throughout most of the book. Crying! I never cry. Okay... it was more like misty tears... I wasn't even prepared for the epilogue when it finally came up, I couldn't even picture it.

I'm planning on re-reading the trilogy after the movie release, but I have a feeling that book three will end up being my favorite, though don't hold me to that just yet! LOL.

For now... I'm trying to relax my mind by reading The Princess Bride.
