I had heard Cliff mention this book in his SLM podcast various times and became curious. So, I went out and got a "hard" copy and I can't put it down! From the first page it has been slapping me and awakening me to the reality of how screwed up I am but that there is hope for me!
There is also hope for you (trust me you are hopeless, you just don't know it yet) to achieve the success that you somehow know you can achieve.
So I started this "discussion" to see how many people will actually participate and share their experience with this book. I am not endorsing it and I don't have any affiliate links on my site however I am highly recommending it! Why?
You and I are part of this community because we have one thing in common. A desire to make a difference in the life of others and in our own life. So what do you say? Do you want to share and grow together? I hope so because I'm eager to watch you grow!

I want to say that I'll happily monitor this conversation as it goes on. I may pop in from to time to time with a thought here and there.
Personally, I've ready this book twice this year. I read it once through on my own. Then I read the entire book again, and discussed it chapter by chapter, in a weekly book club meeting with about 10 members of my Podcast Mastermind group.
It's got a very powerful message. I don't know that I agree with 100% of it. However, I can say that I agree with about 90% of the message shared.
For me, the most powerful thing was to learn about all the programming I've taken in, as it relates to money. It's been so freeing to rewrite my financial blueprint.
Since reading the book (twice), my business income has nearly TRIPLED and I'm experiencing more margin in my life.
I'm currently in the process of reading four books right now, two of them with My Podcast Mastermind Group. So I will not be able to go through the book again right now.
But yeah, I'll watch any conversations that are happening here and will comment as I have time. ;)

Permalink Reply by Santos Auli on July 28, 2012 at 6:59pm What do you think about this statement?
"Rich people believe, 'I create my life.'" Poor people believe, 'Life happens to me.'" (Wealth File #1)
Do you believe some people are meant to be successful while others are meant not to be?
Leave your feedback here and join this conversation as we explore the,"Secrets of the Millionaire Mind" by T. Harv Eker (Cliff's Affilate Link)
Disclosure: I have read the first chapter, got distracted by a different book but fully intend to finish soon.
I would amend the statement this way: powerful people believe I create my life. powerless people believe life happens to me. I think it has less to do with money and more to do with the power you have access to. Now, that may lead to a certain monetary outcome but the root is power.
some people meant to be successful? no way. You forge your own path. Especially in the USA where opportunity is abundant. You have what you deserve, based on your choices and actions.
Permalink Reply by Santos Auli on July 31, 2012 at 5:36pm I agree that people that are "empowered" to realize that they have the power to act are the successful ones. I am thankful everyday that I live in a country that allows for me to forge my own path!
Hope you get a chance to finish the book. I am ging through it slowly and and at times I have to put it down and process what he is saying so that I'm not quick to disagree! The author however pulls no punches and I enjoy the straight talk.
Thanks for the feedback!
Permalink Reply by Cliff Ravenscraft @GSPN on July 30, 2012 at 8:43pm I agree with the statement that successful people do have a mindset that says "If I want it, I need to go out an make it happen" and that people who are not successful are the people who are always coming up with "excuses as to why they are not as lucky as successful people."
We have to take OWNERSHIP of our lives and we MUST NOT play the Victim in this life.
As for your other question, I will say that I believe some people are less likely, for a multitude of reasons, to seek out most of the opportunities that life has to offer. I believe so much of that has to do with their "blueprint/programming."
Permalink Reply by Santos Auli on July 31, 2012 at 5:43pm I agree that the mindset of a successful person dictates their actions and leads them to achieving success. It does take "conscience effort" and "continual work" to develop the right mindset.
I have been challenged to sit in silence and ask myself, "Sam, what is it that you want to achieve?" I don't think that I have ever taken the time to clearly answer this question. It has not been easy and I am still processing it.
Has anyone out there had a similar experience? How long did it take you to "answer" this question or are you still in the process of answering it? (I have a feeling that the answer is constantly evolving as one grows).
Again, thank you for the feedback and I hope it is serving you as it is serving me. Don't forget to share this with someone and enrich their life in the process!
Permalink Reply by Cliff Ravenscraft @GSPN on August 1, 2012 at 8:48am Santos, It is a process. One thing that helped me was to become CRYSTAL CLEAR about what I want my life to be about. When it's all said and done, how do I want to be remembered?
So many of my mentors had mentioned the benefits of having a PERSONAL MISSION STATEMENT. It's taken me years to finally come up with my own, but ever since I've had it, and WROTE IT DOWN, it has had a PROFOUND IMPACT on my life.
Here's my mission statement:
My mission is to dedicate my life to Entertaining, Educating, Encouraging, and Inspiring Others! To share my passions and experiences in life in an authentic and transparent way that inspires others to make positive changes in their lives. I want to be known as a follower of Jesus who authentically attempts to live out my faith (though I may fail miserably at times) in a way that engages popular culture without turning others off. I want to always be prepared to give a reason for the hope that I have and to be ready to do so with gentleness and respect.
Now, when I am considering what I want to achieve and go about setting my goals, I make sure that it does not violate that statement.
At the beginning of this year, before I had actually come up with the mission statement above, I had listed out the following goals for 2012.
- Raise business income to $20,000 per month
- Increase Podcast Mastermind Membership to 100 Members
- To land my first paid speaking gig!
- To become a "Keynote Speaker."
- To build up to a team of 5
- To be invited to BlogWorld NYC & West Coast Event
- To get under 200lbs and stay there
- To spend more time with Stephanie & The Kids
- To have "the talk" with Matthew
- To create a personal mission statement and list my core values
- To create a business/marketing plan for gspn.tv
- To create an affiliate program from my products & services
Here's an update on the above.
As you can see, there is real power in setting goals, writing them down, telling others about them, and TAKING ACTION.
Permalink Reply by Santos Auli on August 2, 2012 at 10:26pm I am currently working on my Mission Statement since hearing Dan Miller talking about it on a podcast (I think it was the EntreLeadership Podcast).
I have also used his format of writing out my goals covering seven areas of life (Financial, Spiritual, Emotional, Physical, etc). I did it last year and the results are manifesting as we speak. I have always been a big time advocate for WRITING DOWN YOUR GOALS and the results that follow by just doing this.
I have also TOLD OTHERS ABOUT MY GOALS and this has had a huge impact on my MOTIVATION and ACCOUNTABILITY to follow through. Before I would keep it to myself and just dream, satisfied with the thrill it gave me but no ACTION was taken!
I heard in another podcast (I think Dan Miller) that people who TALK about their dreams and goals but DON'T write them down CONVINCE themselves that they are making progress and the "RUSH" they get produces in them the SATISFACTION as if they had actually accomplished something! That blew me away!
As always your response has been tremendous and trust me that I'm taking notes and learning from you all that I can! I will be sharing my Mission Statement soon and going back to revise my 5 year plan with much more clarity and insight!
Wealth File #2 states, "Rich people play the money game to win. Poor people play the money game to not lose."
I always thought that I was working to achieve something better not to preserve what I currently had. How did this statement affect you and do you find yourself being more "risk driven" than "cautious?"
Thanks Cliff for your time, insight and wisdom! It is not going unappreciated!

Permalink Reply by Cliff Ravenscraft @GSPN on August 11, 2012 at 2:39pm I used to be stuck in the mindset of "saving what I have." Like the story in the Bible where the one guy mistakenly buried the master had given him to invest.
I find myself much more open to risk today. I really love the mindset that I have today, if I have learned how to earn this money the first time, if I were to lose it tall, I could simply earn it again and likely in less time.
Permalink Reply by Santos Auli on August 11, 2012 at 2:00pm This book has been "challenging" to read since it does get RAW and IN YOUR FACE sometimes. If you have not checked it out yet, I highly recommend that you do since it will work on your thinking (like all good books should).
One thing that I have learned that it is NOT ENOUGH to DESIRE CHANGE but to TAKE ACTION! Why is their such a small percentage of individuals in the world that are truly wealthy? You might know the answer but what are you doing about it to be one of those individuals?
I have a question to ask you, if you only had one year to live, what would you change about your life that you are currently doing right now? What's stopping you from making that change today?
