E-readers

So, have you made the switch yet? I got one for Christmas, but I'm not sure what to think. What are your experiences with e-readers?

As much as I love holding a real book in my hands, I absolutely love my Kindle.

I just love my Kindle. I was one of the original onwers. I have a 1st generation and and the 3rd generation Kindle. I gave my 1st generation to my daughter, who even though has a NOOK, prefers my old Kindle.

Very interesting. Why does she prefer the Kindle over the Nook.. I assume you are talking about the regular nook, not the color.

Yeah, it's the regular Nook. I don't know. I think the Kindle is a bit more intuitive, and besides, since we are sharing my account, she loves my book collection. LOL

I share books with my daughter and she lives in Denver! It was one of the reasons I went with the Kindle...because she all ready had one. :-)

I suppose to have a lot of money coming in this week (cross fingers), so I am hoping to pick up a Kindle either later this week or next week. I decided against the Nook, since I plan to get the iPad in the near future. I am looking forward to being able to see more than a paragraph at a time. Which is one of the down side of the Kindle on the Iphone. Will let everyone know what I think of it. How long did it take to get use too?

I got used to it immediately. It was like reading a book. If you are buying a new one now, you will be getting the 3rd generation, which is much easier to use than the 1st generation (and that was easy to use, too).

If your primary goal is to read, there is very little downside to the Kindle. The design is brilliant, the battery life impeccable, and the value for the money is high. It encourages me to read - for this alone it's worth the weight of gold. I really like the iPad - but for running apps and consuming multimedia content, not reading. The color Nook is also a bold product - but after playing with one I knew I would have wanted a Kindle and I'm so happy with my decision to get one. Love it. Lighted case is on the way.
